![]() Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping,
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. Kahlil Gibran The ritual of hand fasting can be used as a ceremony to denote an engagement, or it can be incorporated within a marriage ceremony. The tradition says that by hand fasting for a year and a day you will know whether this is the right person for you. Hand fasts are often held outdoors in places such as; forests or hilltops, by rivers, lakes or the sea. Equally they can take place in a garden or at a sacred site such as Avebury or Stonehenge. As a Druid Celebrant with the Druid Network and a graduate of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, Paul Sandford is an expert in this type of ritual and has a great deal of experience in this area of ceremony.
